The members of the federation of Bachelor of Education and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed candidates retorted to begging on the roads of the State capital on Tuesday to highlight their plight. The members of the federation are on a path of agitation for the demand of release of recruitment advertisement for 6,200 vacant posts of primary teachers in the Government schools of the State.
On the day the members of the federation assembled at the Gandhi Park of the city and expressed their anger by engaging in begging. The members took a march from the Gandhi Park to the clock tower and returned back to the Park. The method of protest attracted the interests of passersby and onlookers.
The patron of the federation, Yashpal Singh said that a Right to Information (RTI) application revealed 7200 posts of the primary teachers are lying vacant in the Government schools of the state and instead of filling these posts the department is engaging in spreading misinformation.
He said that the State Government should intervene and the department should release a recruitment advertisement for these posts soon. Singh threatened that thousands of B.Ed./TET qualified candidates would be forced to intensify their agitation if the demand is not accepted. He said that the government officials would be solely responsible if the agitation takes a violent turn.
The media advisor of the federation Arvind Barthwal said that the more than 25000 B.Ed./TET qualified youths in the state anxiously waiting for this recruitment drive as it would be their last chance to get job as primary teachers. The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) debars the B.Ed. qualified candidates from being primary teacher after March 31, 2016 as it had propounded that only Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) qualified candidates are eligible to teach in the primary schools now.
