In continuation of previous notifications Ref/Adm/Results/Ph.D. 2010 (SP 2011)/4 & 8 dt. 13 Jan
& 4 Feb 2011, the following waitlisted candidate are also provisionally selected on merit for admission to the Ph.D. programme 2010 (SP 2011) at Mesra / Centres listed, for the Department of Management based on their marks in the Ph.D. Entrance Test, academic record and interviews held at Mesra on 11 and/or 12 Jan 2011.

All provisionally selected candidates are required to report in person and take admission at the Centre mentioned against their names, during working hours on any working day from 15 April 2011 to 25 April 2011, failing which their admission offers will be cancelled. The Admission cum Registration of the provisionally selected candidates will be done at Mesra / concerned Extension Centre (please see lists below for Place of Reporting). After completion of admission formalities provisionally selected candidates are also required to collect their enrollment form from the Admission Office / concerned Department/ concerned
Extension Centre / or download the same from the Institute website.
At the time of admission, selected candidates would be required to submit two passport size colour photographs, identical to that affixed in the application form, and the originals of the following documents and certificates, which will be retained by the Institute until completion of the course.
1. Pass certificate and Marksheet of Class 10
2. Marksheet of Class 12 / Intermediate or equivalent
3. Certificate and Marksheets of Graduation
4. Certificate and Marksheets of Post Graduation
5. College Leaving Certificate and Migration Certificate
6. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if (a) they acquired such qualifications as working professionals / while in employment, (b) the programmes are recognized by the DEC-UGC AICTE or MHRD. They must submit: (i) work experience certificate (ii) Pass certificate and marksheets of qualifying examination showing that they have passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks.

7. CSIR-NET / BRNS/ NBHM/ GATE / GPAT 2010 admit card and Score card (if applicable)
8. Caste certificate / special category certificate (if applicable) in proper format, signed by appropriate authority.
9. Sponsorship letter, NOC & Experience certificate (if applicable)
10. Any other document(s) as mentioned in the provisional selection lists External candidates are required to produce certificate, duly endorsed by their respective organizations, that they have adequate necessary resources and facilities available at their respective organizations to carry out Ph.D. level research work.

Subject: Changes in syllabus and pattern of the Preliminary Examination from 2011 in the scheme of Civil Services Examination


• As per the decision of Government of India, there shall be change in the syllabus and pattern of the Preliminary Examination from 2011 in the scheme of the Civil Services Examination.


• The Preliminary Examination shall now comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each and of two hours duration each. Detailed below is the new syllabus and pattern of the Preliminary Examination, which is brought to the notice of the prospective candidates intending to appear at the Civil Services Examination (CSE) in 2011 onwards:


Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours


• Current events of national and international importance
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System,
Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development,
Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate
Change - that do not require subject specialization
• General Science.


Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
• Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper-II) will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.
• The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.
• A set of sample questions for both Papers would be put on the UPSC website
