B.ED, TET QUALIFIED YOUTHS WELCOME CM’S NEW DECISION
Thursday, 21 January 2016 | Dehradun | in Dehradun
The federation of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed youths has welcomed the decision of State Chief Minister Harish Rawat to make amendment in the Uttarakhand school teacher first appointment, promotion, transfer posting, guidelines-2014. The federation however has pledged to continue its agitation till the education department releases recruitment advertisement for 6200 posts of primary teachers.
The CM made the amendment using his discretionary powers on Tuesday. The amendment was necessitated as the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) had given a relaxation to Uttarakhand to appoint B.Ed. qualified candidates in the primary schools of the state till March 31, 2016. The teacher appointment guideline however was not amended to incorporate this relaxation of NCTE. The B.Ed/ TET federation was demanding the amendment for long. Apart from making the necessary amendment the CM also directed the officials of the education department to initiate the process of recruitment in 1000 posts of primary teachers.
The spokesperson of the federation of B.Ed/ TET federation Arvind Barthwal told The Pioneer that unemployed youths welcome the decision of state government to bring the much needed amendment. He added that the federation would continue its agitation as the education department is not heeding to its demand of releasing recruitment advertisement for 6200 posts of primary teachers. He said that RTI information reveals that about 6000 posts of the teachers are vacant in the government schools of the state. There are more than 25000 B.Ed. / TET qualified candidates in the state who would be rendered not eligible for being employed as primary teachers after March 31. These youths are putting pressure on the state government to fill all the vacancies before the aforesaid date.
The members of the federation are sitting on a dharna from last 89 days at education directorate to press for their demand. Under pressure from the agitation the education department had recently released the names of candidates from waiting list to fill vacant 347 posts of primary teachers. The department had conducted recruitment drive on 2794 posts of Primary teachers last year in which some of the candidates had not joined their duties after repeated reminders.
