CSB EXAMINATION : 2013
General
1. There are approximately 7000 teachers on the rolls of the 133 Army Public Schools(APS) under AWES.
Out of that, approximately 1000 get turned over every year. The vacancies will be projected by the Schools
while advertising for holding interviews for selection of teachers at the beginning of the academic year.
2. To qualify for interview, the candidates have to pass a Screening Examination which is held by HQ AWES
centrally. The next exam will be held on 08 Dec 2013. The general guidelines for candidates are given in the
succeeding paragraphs.
List of Schools
3. AWES is running 133 Army Public Schools across the country which are all affiliated to CBSE. A List of
these schools is placed at Appendix A.
Selection of Teachers
4. Categories of Teachers: The exam will be held for the posts of PGT/TGT/PRT for all subjects (List placed
at Appendix B).
5. Vacancies. This will vary from School to School. A clear picture of vacancies existing in Schools will
emerge only at the beginning of an academic year. Based on the vacancies available, schools advertise for
interview. Appointments will be made as per CBSE/AWES Rules.
6. Qualifications. The requisite qualifications are:-

(b) Age - As on 01 April 2014:-

(Should have minimum 5 years teaching experience in the
Last 10 years)

7. Selection Procedure. Will be done in two stages:-
(a) Stage 1. Screening Exam, conducted on the Second Sunday of every year, for vacancies that will
arise during the ensuing academic year. This is conducted by HQ AWES centrally. In addition to fresh
candidates, the following may also appear for the screening test:-
(i) Holders of Score Cards who want to improve their scores.
(ii) Those desirous of upgrading themselves. For E.g. a candidate holding score Card of
TGT may now want to obtain a card for PGT, having acquired additional qualification.
(b) Stage II. Interview, Evaluation of Teaching skills and computer proficiency will be held under the
aegis of HQ Commands for Schools under their jurisdiction. For Language teachers, written test
comprising Essay/ Comprehension will be held along with evaluation of teaching skills.

8. The Screening Exam for 2013 will be conducted as under:-

(b) Method. Test will be conducted ON-LINE in the MCQ format .For details see table
below.

1. Scores will be normalized to 100.
2. There will be no negative marking.
3. No break will be given after Part 1 to preclude the requirement of verification again.
4. To qualify for a post, the candidate must score minimum 50 % marks in each part.
(c) Agency. The 2013 exam has been outsourced to a service provider –
APTECH Limited and will conducted the ON-LINE exam on behalf of AWES.
(d) Exam Fee Rs 600/-(nonrefundable).
9. Registration. Candidates are expected to register ON-LINE for the screening exam by logging onto web-
site www.awesindia.in. The registration portal will be open from 23 Sep 2013 to 21 Oct 2013. Candidates can
register from 9AM on 23 Sep 13 to 5PM on 21 Oct 2013. Thereafter the portal will be closed. The procedure to
be followed will be as under:-
(a) Log onto the web-site www.awesindia.in and read the Instruction which will guide you to how to
register.
Fill up the personal information or the application form.
(c) The system will then ask the candidates to pay the exam fee ON-LINE. Payment options are
Debit/Credit Cards, net banking or electronic transfer through designated banks. A payment gateway
has been integrated with the web-site for the purpose and candidates will be guided through the
payment process.
(d) After payment of fee, the candidates will be asked by the system to
Attached following documents:-
(i) Photographs and signatures
(ii) Proof of date of birth
(iii) Certificates of academic qualifications.
(e) Once registration is completed, the candidates will get a confirmation that you have successfully
registered yourself. Candidates will also be informed through e-mail and SMS regarding the same.
(f) A `Help Line’ will be available to the candidates to seek any assistance, till the conduct of the
exam. A helpline tab will be available on the web-site www.awesindia.in .
(g) Candidates will also be given mock-tests ON-LINE to familiarize them with the exam procedure. A
link for this will be available on the Registration Portal with effect from 22 October 2013.
10. Exam Centres. A list of Exam Centres will be available on the Registration Portal. The candidates are
required to fill in three choices in order of preference. Effort will be made to allot the first choice to a
candidate. If that centre is not being activated, one of the other two options will be allotted. A tentative List is
placed at Appendix C. 4

11. Admit Cards. Admit cards will be available ON-LINE. Candidates may download and print the same.
The same should be produced for giving entry to the Exam Centre.
12. Exam Results. Will be put up on the AWES web-site www.awesindia.com.
13. Score Card. A laminated Score Card will be issued to each successful candidate after the results are
published. The card will be valid for life provided the candidate takes up teaching position in any CBSE/AWES
recognized school within 3 years of issue of Score Card.
14. Timelines

15. Past Years’ Question Papers Past five years’ question papers are available for which please send DD in
the name of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) payable at Delhi along with your mailing address to Army
Welfare Education Society (AWES), FDRC Building No 202, Shankar Vihar, Delhi Cantt – 110010. Costs of the
papers are as under :-
