प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) की परीक्षाओं की पद्धति में बदलाव को हरी झंडी दिखा दी है। इसके तहत सामान्य ज्ञान (जनरल स्टडीज) को ज्यादा प्रमुखता दी जाएगी। यूपीएससी द्वारा गठित एक कमेटी की संस्तुतियों को प्रधानमंत्री ने अपनी स्वीकृति प्रदान की। यूपीएससी हर साल देश में प्रतियोगी प्ररीक्षाएं कराती है।
वर्तमान स्वरूप के अनुसार सिविल सर्विसेज (मेन) परीक्षा में जनरल स्टडीज के 300-300 नंबरों के दो पेपर -1 और -2 होते हैं, जिसके अलावा अनिवार्य रूप से दो ऐच्छिक विषय शामिल होते हैं। नए बदलावों के अनुसार अब दोनों जनरल स्टडीज के पेपर को ज्यादा अहमियत दी जाएगी।
यूजीसी की पूर्व चेयरमैन प्रो. अरुण एस निगावेकर के नेतृत्व में बनी कमेटी ने यह रिपोर्ट तैयार की थी, जिसकी कार्मिक और परीक्षण विभाग ने जांच की और अंतिम संस्तुति के लिए पीएम के सामने पेश किया। मंत्रालय के सचिव पीके मिश्रा के अनुसार, ‘इस मामले में अध्यादेश शीघ्र ही जारी किया जाएगा।’
कार्मिक, लोक शिकायत और पेंशन मामलों के राज्यमंत्री वी नारायणसामी ने राज्यसभा में बुधवार को लिखित जवाब में कहा कि यूपीएससी ने कमेटी की रिपोर्ट के आधार पर वर्तमान परिदृश्य के हिसाब से सिविल सर्विसेज (मेन) परीक्षा में परिवर्तन के कुछ सुझाव पेश किए थे।
विभाग के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने मीडिया को बताया कि अधिसूचना में परिवर्तन की विस्तृत जानकारी दी जाएगी। उल्लेखनीय है कि यूपीएससी तीन अखिल भारतीय सेवा परीक्षाओं -भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा, भारतीय पुलिस सेवा और भारतीय वन सेवा- का आयोजन करता है।
यूपीएससी के एक आदेश के अनुसार 2013 की सिविल परीक्षाओं का कार्यक्रम 2 फरवरी को घोषित होना था, लेकिन किन्हीं कारणों से ऐसा न हो सका। नई तारीखों की घोषणा जल्दी ही की जाएगी
