AHMEDABAD: A woman who tried to impersonate an acquaintance to lend her a helping hand in an exam faced arrest after an exam supervisor caught her and registered a police complaint, on Sunday. Police have charged the original examinee - who was to take the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) - and the proxy candidate and have begun investigating.
According to Shahibaug police, Rekha Nimkar, a resident of Shahibaug, was a supervisor at a cantonment school for CTET examination. While going through the candidate list, she saw a woman candidate who was trying to hide her face. Suspicious, Nimkar demanded identity documents and checked the photographs.
She found that the examinee was Dimple Patel, a resident of Navrangpura, rather than Malshree Dhilwa, the candidate mentioned in the list. Nimkar informed the center supervisors. Patel tried to argue but eventually confessed that she was sitting in for the original candidate.
Investigators said that Malshree, a teacher, had to clear the examination to get job in a central board affiliated school. While she was confident about her knowledge, she was afraid of the online examination. Then one of her relatives offered a way out asked his friend Dimple to appear in the exam.
