TNTET : HC stays appointment of teachers

The Madras High Court bench here today stayed the appointment of
Graduate Assistant Teachers and Secondary Grade Teachers, but said
"counselling for the 2013-14 can be held.Admitting a batch of petitions seeking to quash a Government Order of May 30 this eyar giving weightage of marks taking into account marks obtained by the candidates in the higher secondary course, degree course, B.Ed and Teacher Eligibility Test, Justice K K Sasidharan stayed the appointment and sought the reply of the officials including the Chairman of Teachers Recruitment Board within three weeks.
One of the 18 petitioners V Tamilarasan, submitted that though he secured as high as 92 marks out 150 in the TET, he could not get a posting because the G.O. Prescribed weightage of marks taking into account marks obtained in plus two, degree, BEd and TET, DTeD and D.E.Ed.
The TRB couldnot treat the candidates who passed the examination now on par with those who completed examination five or ten years ago. The Government order did not give any weightage for seniority, experience.
